1. Laboratory Technician - Chemistry/Materials

Hybrid Silica Technologies is currently seeking a Lab Technician for their facility in Cambridge, MA. Candidate will perform assist with routine testing and monitoring procedures in research and development fields. Technicians analyze data; test products and materials using manual, automated, or chemical processes; produce compounds; record findings; operate lab equipment; develop new chemical processes; and test the stability of products, packaging, or compounds. This is a full time job. Local candidates only (no relocation available).

Responsibilities

Keeping up to date records of lab inventory (such as chemicals, compounds, solvents, and consumables).
Assist scientist in development of and operation of material characterization and measurements including, as example, temperature measurements and weighing out test samples
Perform laboratory physical property analyses involving sample management/tracking, recording observations, data calculations, and data reporting
Maintain clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment. Stocking the lab, processing shipments, and troubleshooting instruments

Requirements

Science/Engineering Associates Degrees or Bachelor Degree (preference is materials, chemistry or a similar field)
Hands-on work experience with lab procedures, lab equipment, and various chemical compounds
Knowledge of Chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods
The ability to work unsupervised, general laboratory etiquette, troubleshooting skills
Basic electronics and electrical systems skills (setting up lab equipment)
Strong communication skills both in oral and writing
Some experience with computer data acquisition system (USB, signals using commercial data acquisition systems)
Excellent Computer skills, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
