
1. Polymer Chemist/Materials Scientist
TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIRMENTS
The candidate should have knowledge of nanoparticle formulation for in vivo delivery, as well as biocompatible polymer grafting onto nanoparticles. The work will entail a significant amount of small volume prototyping and hand assembly as well as operation of analytical instruments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the capability to correlate biomaterial properties and sensor characteristics, as well as identify and implement material improvements.
The position also requires expertise to detect, identify, and correct instrument/data problems. The ability to produce accurate, reproducible data from well-designed experiments is essential. Effective communication of research results and plans is required. Incumbent will participate in training/retraining and continuing education programs as necessary.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise with analytical methods such as fluorescence and UV-Vis spectroscopy as well as FTIR and HPLC/FPLC. Experience in analytical methods development and DOE is preferred. The candidate should also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional groups.

Design, generate, and test nanoparticle constructions for delivery in vivo. |

Conceive and execute physical and chemical characterizations and in vitro screening |

Expected to manage internal research collaboration to identify, coordinate and manage grant-writing efforts |
Responsibilities:

The key responsibility for this role is to further the understanding of nanoparticle technology and its application for the advancement of biosensor and biologic therapies. |

The successful candidate will be required to integrate technical knowledge of nanoparticles with a range of potential in vivo application in order to create a working biological system for technical evaluation of new platforms |

Develop Formulation and analytical testing of polymer gels and coatings and other biocompatible protein encapsulating systems with optimal permselectivity |
| • |
Develop biocompatible coatings resistant to protein adhesion |
| • |
Development of related application and cure processes for formulations |
| • |
Create a leadership profile within Research by establishing the best practices for evolving
new technology |

Approximately 80% lab based work |
Qualifications:
| • |
MS or PhD in chemistry, polymer chemistry, or materials science with 5-10 years of industrial/academic experience. |
| • |
Knowledge of ATRP and other grafting from/to polymerization processes is preferred |
| • |
This position requires 80% laboratory work at the bench preparing and evaluating polymeric coatings and generating samples for outsourced or in house characterizations |
| • |
Knowledge of animal models and the design of experiments for the assessment of controlled release profile, e.g. nanoparticles, carrying therapeutic cargos is essential |
